LE LUCCIOLE WINE

WINE MADE FROM ORGANICALLY GROWN GRAPES

The project has been named “Le Lucciole” because among
the vineyards in Canelli, where the soil is worked according
to the dictates of organic farming and the air is pure,
every September nature renews itself giving us two miracles:
beautiful fireflies (the Italian for which is lucciole)
and superlative bunches of grapes.

Why Organic?

AN IMPORTANT VALUE

The philosophy that lies behind the “Le Lucciole” project concerns the absolute enhancement of the outstanding qualities of Moscato d’Asti grapes.

What’s more, the 10 hectares of estate-owned vineyards cultivated with Moscato d’Asti have been awarded organic certification and represent the very first organic project for this grape variety.

Organic Asti DOCG

“Le Lucciole” Organic Moscato d'Asti DOCG is made from organically grown Moscato Bianco di Canelli grapes. This means that the grapes are gown without the use of synthetic chemicals, such as fertilisers, weed killers, pesticides and fungicides.

Both work in the vineyards and vinification are certified by an authorised department that strictly monitors the observance of the production regulations.
The fact that the producer does not use pesticides implicates higher costs and much more work in the management of infesting disease in the vineyard, as well as lower yields. The result however is a product which fully respects consumer health and the environment.

Vinification: the grapes are harvested and transported to the cellar, where they undergo soft pressing and immediate cooling of the must in order to preserve the characteristic aromas of the grapes.
The must is transferred into pressurised tanks where it ferments slowly at a controlled temperature until the required alcohol content is reached. This is followed by cooling and subsequently filtering.

All the phases are carried out using advanced technologies but with total respect for tradition and the organic production regulations. The utmost attention is focused on limiting the use of sulphites.
Colour: dull straw yellow with golden highlights, fine, lively and persistent perlage.

Bouquet: the aromatic intensity is characterised by fragrant fruity and peachy notes.

Flavour: the sweetness, carefully balanced by moderate acidity beautifully accompanies the verve and vivacity of the bubbles, while the aftertaste reveals the pleasant and intense aromas of the grapes of origin.
